Weiguang Cable Acquires Shenyang Furukawa Cable, Expanding Ultra-High Voltage Product Line

In a landmark move that strengthens its position in the high-end cable market, Anhui Weiguang Cable Co., Ltd. has successfully acquired Shenyang Furukawa Cable Co., Ltd. for RMB 360 million. The business registration change was finalized in February 2026, granting Weiguang full ownership of the historically significant cable manufacturer.

Shenyang Furukawa Cable, established in 1995 as a prominent Sino-Japanese joint venture, is renowned for its advanced cable technology and expertise in Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cables. As one of the earliest domestic manufacturers in this field, the company has long been a market leader in product quality and technical level, particularly for ultra-high voltage cross-linked cables and accessories up to 500 kV.

This strategic acquisition allows Weiguang Cable to immediately integrate Furukawa's specialized expertise and production assets. By filling a critical gap in its high and ultra-high voltage product lines, Weiguang can now offer full-category coverage from low-voltage to 500 kV EHV cables. This leap in technological capability positions the company to address the growing market demand for high-capacity power transmission solutions and critical grid infrastructure.
